Seriously! Where does the time go?!? It feels like I was just posting about planting our crops, and here we are getting ready to start barley harvest! Our crops have grown a lot since my last post, so I wanted to do a 2016 crop update before we get busy with barley harvest.

Sugar Beets

The sugar beets are looking great! They still have another 2 full months before we start harvesting them, so they have a lot of time left to grow and increase sugar content! If you are interested in finding out more, check out Sugar Beet Production from last year!

Barley

As I said earlier, we are getting ready to start barley harvest in the next couple of days. It looks pretty good too, and I am excited to do some videos during harvest to share with you.  For more information on barley, check out Malt Barley Production!

Alfalfa Seed

The alfalfa has already bloomed and the leaf cutter bees have been working hard! All of our alfalfa seed fields looks great! We will probably start harvesting our first field in about a month. Until then, the bees will keep on pollinating. To learn more about leaf cutter bees, check out Alfalfa Seed Pollination!

The leafcutter bees are so fast, it makes it hard to get good pictures of them. The honey bees are a lot slower, so I have more pictures of them. 🙂
