So I may be a couple months late, 🙂 but I wanted to share our 2016 harvest videos and pictures!

Barley Harvest

Alfalfa Seed Harvest 

This year we had over 1,200 acres of alfalfa seed to harvest. We also received quite a bit of rain this year during harvest which somewhat slowed us down. Other than the rain, harvest went pretty smoothly. Getting the combines set correctly is probably the most important aspect of harvest, since the alfalfa seed is so tiny and somewhat difficult to thrash. Once they are set though, it is just slow and steady going.

This was our 1st year harvesting with a Lexion combine. We were really impressed with it and actually traded our Case in for another one. So next year we will be running all Lexions!

Sugar Beet Harvest

Spring is in the Air!

This winter was long and cold! It was the snowiest winter I can remember since living here for 12 years. Because of all the snow, it took longer to dry and thaw out enough for us to start working the ground.  Last year we were in the fields weeks before we were this year.  However, everything is drying out nicely and we are going strong now! We have even began drilling our barley!! Woohoo!!
